Meandering River

A river that flows in a distinct channel which follows a winding, hence meandering path. Parts of a meandering channel are the line following the deepest point, thalweg, the sandy deposits on the inside of the bend, point bar, and the isolated oxbow lake, caused by the cut-off of a meander loop. The meander loop migrates depositing the point bar, which make up the reservoirs. This is culled from IPE HWU Petroleum Geoscience manual.
