Extended Reach Wells

This can be defined as wells having a horizontal displacement to true vertical depth ratio of at least 2:1 and could get to the current maximum of about 11:1.

On the 28th of January 2011, one of the world’s longest boreholes was drilled at the Odoptu field, Sakhalin-I with a measured total depth of 12345m, horizontal displacement of 11475m, and true vertical depth of 1784m.
