CRITICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF A HYDROCARBON RESERVOIR ROCK


Thickness and areal extent = gross rock volume

Percentage of pore space = potential fluid volume

Fluid saturation = percentage of water vs. hydrocarbon

Permeability = ability to flow the contained fluid

The question is, how do we measure these characteristics? J
